No3 Old Mill Cottages

The Old Mill Cottages are in Rosedale Abbey. A delightful village boasting three pubs / restaurants, a delicatessen & coffee shop, tea-room and village shop. There is a nine hole golf course, pony trekking centre and a fantastic glass works all nearby.

A perfect base

No3 offers you the perfect location whether you are looking for, a base for walking or cycling, a family holiday or a get away with friends.

A Building With a Past

This small village has a long and interesting past.  Rosedale Priory was founded before 1157, the nunnery with its prioress and 9 nuns remained until dissolution, only a small section of a sprial staircase remains, behind the church.

The Accommodation

The Old Mill retains some of its original features and today offers visitors comfortable and well equipped accommodation:

Inside, Outside

Muddy boots, shoes, dogs, coats, washing and drying – otherwise known as the Utility Room – adds a useful space off the kitchen.

About the Building With a Past

In 1569 there is mention of a corn mill owned by Sir Thomas Williamson …perhaps the foundations of todays Old Mill.  The development of iron ore mining from 1859 had a major impact on the village, and is still evident in the surrounding landscape.

In the middle of the village stands large building that was once the corn mill, later generated electricity, and was restored in 1984 – today it provides holiday accommodation.

About The Accommodation

Sleeping the cottage can sleep 6, a king size bed and separate single bedroom on the top floor and larger bedroom with 3 single beds on the middle floor

About Inside, Outside

There is a small secluded garden at the back.  The garden is gravelled and surrounded by bushes and shrubs.  A place to relax on those warmer occasions when sitting out is an option.

Car parking and morning coffee.  The cottage is reached through a 5 bar gate, which opens into a shared parking area for NO3 and the adjoining cottages.  There is also a small contained area at the front of the cottage which catches the morning sun.  Here you’ll find a bench with small table and chairs, great for coffee with the newspaper!

The cottage is superb! The 6 of us enjoyed another visit to this wonderful area, with lots to do. This time Helmsley Castle and Birds of Prey, the railway, Dalby Forest and of course Whitby.

This is our 5th visit! There is so much to do and we love the cottage. This time we visited Mount Grace Priory, Nunnington Hall and Wharram Percy. We'' have to come back for the rest of the places we wanted to visit.
